Office Friday

Office Friday — architectural 3D visualization and CGI animation by Saccade studio. Project: Ginzburg Architects, Moscow, 2024. Client: architecture firm Ginzburg Architects. Project type: office building. An office building in the historical centre of Moscow: glass and metal next to pre-revolutionary brick. The task was to find angles where the new doesn't argue with its context, but holds a conversation with it. An office building on Pyatnitskaya Street, in the very heart of Zamoskvorechye, designed by Ginzburg Architects. Around it lies a protected historic setting of two- and three-storey mansions, merchants' houses and churches, where a new building can neither outgrow its neighbours nor pretend to be old. The architects' answer is a calm three-storey volume with a set-back fourth floor: pale stone, tall glazing between piers, softly rounded corners and a roof terrace. The building holds the street line and the scale of the neighbouring mansions while speaking a contemporary language — and across 12 stills, made in 18 days, we looked for viewpoints where the new does not argue with its context but talks to it: evening dusk with street lamps reflected in wet cobbles; the street in fog with church domes in the distance; a daytime view with the building in line with a yellow mansion.
