City Art Museum

City Art Museum — architectural 3D visualization and CGI animation by Saccade studio. Project: Kerimov Architects, Trondheim, 2025. Client: architecture firm Kerimov Architects. Project type: museum. A competition entry for a city art museum in Trondheim, for Europan Norway. Two volumes close into a continuous loop: a glass tower inside, the river, the park and the historical centre outside. The building is conceived as an open urban platform, not a closed cultural institution. A competition design by Kerimov Architects for Europan in Trondheim: a new "extroverted" museum bringing together the city art museum and the National Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. The site is Leüthenhaven, a former bus station and today's car park in the historic centre, next to Trøndelag Teater, the town hall and Nidaros Cathedral. The authors called the project To:en — Norwegian for "two in one". The two museums merge into a single continuous loop — a reference to the world serpent Jörmungandr, Viking ships and sea knots. At its centre stands a glass tower, Yggdrasil, carrying stairs and daylight; the facade is woven from northern timber like a ship's rope, and green terraces and squares replace the car park. Trondheim's weather became part of the presentation: across eight stills made in a week, the timber loop stands in snow at a crossroads, a pond freezes in the café courtyard at the foot of the tower, golden light floods it from above over rooftops and misty hills, a bus passes along a rainy street and a skater rolls along the curved timber wall. Photorealistic renders, visualizations and archviz for real estate developers and architecture firms worldwide.
