Project type: public space. A Buildner competition entry: a riverside spa complex in Portugal. Water as the lead character — reflections, damp air, transparent structures. In three days we had to show a building that does not stand next to the water, but lives inside it. A Buildner competition entry by Kerimov Architects: a boutique spa retreat on the bank of the Vez, a mountain river in northern Portugal, next to an old stone watermill. The new building has stone walls and glass under a curved metal roof that sweeps down to the water itself. The task was to show a building that does not stand by the water but lives in it, with three days and three stills to do it: evening light and a stream among stones in front of the mill and the spa, a view from the river through rushing water, with an old wooden boat pulled up on the boulders, and an aerial view of the river, the garden and both houses.
